"Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul."

Music is one of the universal languages of the soul in my opinion. Which is why when it comes time for me to walk down the aisle, the one thing I thought about first when I thought about being married, was the one song that always made me think about finding your soul in the music. I didn't dream of a wedding, or a big brass band, what I saw was a single guitarist playing a single song while I walked down the aisle to the person I wanted more than anything else in the world.

If course, me being me, I chose a cover from the Rolling Stones no less. Keith Richards, eat your heart out.

I'm a huge Stones fan, and though Wild Horses has been done to death, there is still only one cover that I love and that I want to listen to no matter what. Its so surprise that it also came from my favorite show; Buffy the Vampire Slayer- the scene where shes dancing with Angel for the last time before Graduation Day.

Yeah, holding onto a song from 1992 seems a little crazy, but I'm pretty sure some of you have that one song that makes your heart soar, makes you want to reach out and be with that other person. Everyone has that song that has the perfect amount of longing and understanding in it, that just moves you. I'm sure of it.

Taken from wikipedia,

In the liner notes to the 1993 Rolling Stones collection Jump Back: The Best of The Rolling Stones, Jagger states, "Everyone always says this was written about Marianne but I don't think it was; that was all well over by then. But I was definitely very inside this piece emotionally."[1] Keith Richards wrote the melody and came up with the phrase "Wild Horses".[1]
Originally recorded over a three day period at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Alabama during 2–4 December 1969, the song was not released until over a year later due to legal wranglings with the band's former label.[citation needed] Along with "Brown Sugar", it is one of the two Rolling Stones compositions from Sticky Fingers over which Allen Klein co-owns the rights along with the Stones. It features session player Jim Dickinson on piano, Richards on electric guitar, and him and Mick Taylor on acoustic guitars. Richards uses Nashville Tuning, in which the EADG strings of the acoustic guitar are replaced by strings which are tuned one octave higher. Ian Stewart was present at the session, but refused to perform the piano part on the track due to the prevalence of minor chords, which he disliked playing.[2]
In 2007, Jagger's ex-wife, Jerry Hall, named "Wild Horses" as her favourite Rolling Stones song.[3]

Though I hope I wont be stoned to death (ha! pun) by other fans for not wanting the original at the wedding, I'm hoping once you hear the song, you will all be a little more understanding.

Well ladies and gent, what songs does it for you? Let me know in the comments, and I'm dying to hear em and why you love them so.

  1. You are so punny! Yours is a beautiful song, I can totally picture it in my head the way you describe. The song Mr. PS and I swoon to is "Something" by the Beatles. We saw LOVE in Vegas early in our dating phase, and this is now 'our song.'
